November 24, 2001: WCW Velocity On FX Review
POSTED BY DYLAN DRAMA | NOVEMBER 24, 2001

Tomorrow night is WCW WrestleWar and the return of WarGames, tonight is the generic rock intro, Scott Hudson & Don West, it can only be WCW Velocity.

Match 1: Evan Karagias vs. Kwee Wee

The action starts fast with Kwee Wee using his frantic energy to take Karagias down with snapmare after some chain wrestling, following it up with a flamboyant strut. Karagias isn't amused and catches Kwee Wee with a stiff superkick to the jaw. Evan takes control, hitting a snap suplex and a backbreaker for a 2. Kwee Wee finds an opening with a jawbreaker and hits the ropes for a springboard clothesline that levels Karagias. Kwee Wee heads to the top for something, but Karagias crotches him then hits a big Frankenstein. Kwee Wee is down, Karagias scales the turnbuckle and connects with a 450 Splash for the 3.

Winner: Evan Karagias
Rating: 5.4 / 10
A fine little cruiserweight bout between two guys with nothing going on. I doubt this match changes that.
Match 2: Austin Aries vs. Amos Hersch

Austin Aries, whoever you are, I don’t think tonight is your night. Aries charges into Amos to start and eats Big Bossman Slam! Amos drags Aries to the corner, Deadweight Elbow! 1-2-3.

Winner: Amos Hersch
Rating: 3.4 / 10
I get the idea we will see this exact match for a good little while. After the match, Amos celebrates. He lifts Aries and plants him with a Powerbomb, drags him to the corner and drops another Deadweight Elbow.
Match 3: Paul London vs. Johnny Swinger

Johnny Swinger tries to bully London early with his power, shoving him into the corner and landing heavy shoulder thrusts. Swinger attempts a vertical suplex, but London knees him in the head and flips out of it, connecting with a dropsault that sends Swinger to the floor. London hits the ropes and dives over the top with a somersault plancha, wiping Swinger out. Back inside, Swinger catches London mid-air with a sidewalk slam and tries to grind him down with a chinlock. London fights to his feet, hits a running tornado DDT, and quickly scrambles to the apron. London leaps over the top rope with a Slingshot Moonsault, tight cover, and a pinfall!

Winner: Paul London
Rating: 3.9 / 10
That might be London’s first singles win? Match was okay, but fans didn’t care.

Disqo & Sanders are backstage and cut a promo. Disqo begins and starts complaining that they should have been on The Foundation, but Sanders interjects and says he thought they agreed on Team WCW? They then agree that everyone should be talking about them instead of War Games and walk off.

Match 4: Team WCW (Booker T & Sean O’Haire) vs. Disqo & Mike Sanders

As soon as the bell rings, Disqo tries to jump Booker T, but Booker immediately shuts it down with a side kick. Booker floors Disqo with a spinning heel kick and performs the Spinaroonie to a massive pop. Disqo sneaks in a tag, but Booker dodges a charging Sanders. Booker then grabs Disqo who is still in the ring looking to attack, and plants him a thunderous Book End. Sanders charges again but eats a 110th Street Slam and Booker nonchalantly tags in Sean O’Haire. O’Haire hoists Sanders up and executes the Death Spiral and that’s all she wrote.

Winners: Team WCW
Rating: 6.8 / 10
Fans loved the squash, and seeing Booker on Velocity seemed jarring, let alone O’Haire. A nice change of pace.
Overall Show Rating: 6.8 / 10
DYLAN'S FINAL THOUGHTS: This show was ultimately mostly filler, with WrestleWar clearly already set. But it was good filler. Seeing Booker on Velocity was fun too. Weirdly entertained by this show.
