WCW Completes Massive Charlotte Headquarters Expansion

World Championship Wrestling corporate officials confirmed today that construction has officially wrapped on the expansion of their corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This massive undertaking brings a state-of-the-art infrastructure fully under the WCW umbrella, creating a centralized hub for the company's aggressive rebuilding phase. The centerpiece of the expansion is the brand-new corporate facility which features expanded production offices, massive warehouse spaces for merchandising operations, and a completely rebuilt, cutting-edge Power Plant training facility. Insiders report that having production, distribution, and talent development operating under one roof will drastically lower external overhead costs while allowing management to streamline day-to-day operations.

WCW Signs Jazz; Keeping Close Tabs on Joanie Laurer

The wrestling talent arms race continues to heat up. WCW has officialized the signing of former ECW standout Jazz. Known for her intense, hard-hitting style, Jazz is expected to immediately inject a high level of credibility into the roster. Sources indicate that creative plans are already being drawn up to position her as a dominant force out of the gate.

Meanwhile, high-level internet rumors have been confirmed that WCW officials are closely monitoring the contract status of Joanie Laurer following her recent, highly publicized departure from the WWF. While no formal offer has been extended just yet, management is said to be incredibly intrigued by the massive mainstream crossover appeal she brings. Landing Laurer would be a major psychological victory for Shane McMahon's promotion as they continue to lock down top-tier free agents.

Live Event Momentum Grows; Women's Championship Activated

WCW's house show business is showing strong signs of life. The company proudly announced a complete advance sellout at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for their upcoming weekend live event loop. Ticket demand has seen a noticeable uptick over the last month, a trend executives attribute to tighter episodic storylines and a renewed focus on consistent touring loops.

In major creative news, WCW has officially activated the Women's Championship. Recognizing the immense depth of female talent hitting the open market, executives felt it was paramount to introduce a true competitive division. Additionally, ongoing discussions are taking place regarding broadcast strategies for the upcoming Saturday Night programming block on FX, which may heavily feature both the new division and rising talent looking to make a name for themselves.

WCW Opens Developmental Territory: Atomic Championship Wrestling

WCW made a huge announcement today, revealing the new wrestling company Atomic Championship Wrestling. The company will serve as a feeder system or developmental territory for World Championship Wrestling. It's set to be based out of Charlotte, with WCW having built an arena specifically for it to hold weekly wrestling events as part of its Headquarters expansion that also included the new Power Plant as well as production offices and warehouse space.

Originally, WCW had been seeking partners, similar to WWF with Ohio Valley Wrestling and Heartland Wrestling Association, but in recent weeks pivoted towards the idea of opening its own company that it would have complete control over.

Insiders report the decision was finally made to open its own company after WCW had reached out to Jody Hamilton to come into WCW as a road agent. Hamilton had agreed to a deal but expressed interest in taking over the day-to-day operations of the Power Plant instead. The Power Plant was initially birthed out of Hamilton's own wrestling school many years ago, with Hamilton often credited as the founder. These conversations eventually turned to Hamilton also promoting events to help give WCW prospects more ring time, as Hamilton had experience promoting in Georgia in the '80s.

The decision was also made to bring in Steve Keirn to also assist in running the company, and to add him as another full-time trainer at the Power Plant alongside Ricky Santana and under Fit Finlay.

Initial plans for the company are to run a weekly event out of the "Annex Arena" as it's being called, and hopefully secure some sort of television deal to help recoup some of the cost of running a small territory.

WCW quickly reached out to talents that were on their radar and put together a roster of talent that will be the basis of the new company. TEWNews has a breakdown of the entire roster below.
