November 7, 2001: WCW Nitro LIVE on FX Results We are fast on the road to WrestleWar as WCW Nitro comes to us LIVE on FX this week from the Cricket Arena in WCW’s new hometown, Charlotte, North Carolina! Andrew WK’s “Party Hard” opens over the video package, the pyro, the stage, the fans, Joey Styles & Jerry “The King Lawler are calling the action and here we go!
We open the show with The Foundation on their way to the ring, a sight becoming more normal by the week. Every man has gold and Diamond Dallas Page has the microphone.
DDP says it’s cute that now that The Foundation is on top, a ragtag group of sycophants are now choosing the time to band together for the greater good to try and take them down. The Foundation is here to stay, and everyone needs to get used to the fact. DDP says he stands in the ring as the champion, just like he said he would, just like he’ll always be, surrounded by the best men in this business, so everyone can stand in line for their beating or maybe do the smart thing and come out to this ring and beg for forgiveness for standing in DDP’s way.
And here comes Shane McMahon! But he isn’t coming alone, beside him are Booker T, Sean O’Haire and BG James. Shane has a mic in hand. Shane laughs and says he thinks he finally has put it all together, and he has figured out exactly what Diamond Dallas Page is. And that’s, just like everyone else before him. He got angry he couldn’t cut it alone, and has surrounded himself by equally desperate men in a group of cry babies who lie, cheat, and complain endlessly. Diamond Dallas Page wants to act like he’s an innovator? He’s just another in a long line of arrogant jerks who form a group and hide behind every excuse and every cheap tactic they can find. But, Shane McMahon has some bad news for Diamond Dallas Page and The Foundation, because Shane McMahon does intend to do everything he has ever claimed. When he bought WCW, he promised to honor its history while also being a new company that doesn’t repeat the mistakes of the past. So, Shane McMahon has an exciting announcement. Because he does not intend to let a group think they run the show, so WrestleWar is coming… War is coming. Next to Shane stands 3 men, in the ring stands 4. At WrestleWar it’s the Foundation against Team WCW. WAR GAMES! And Team WCW’s final member will be revealed by the end of the show tonight!
Crowbar attempts to keep D’Lo grounded early with a series of snapmares and a sleeper hold, but the Charlotte crowd rallies behind Brown and he battles back. Brown nails a big scoop slam and a shaky head leg drop which gets a reaction and a quick 2 count. Crowbar begins to battle back, slipping out of another slam attempt and clubbing D’Lo in the back of the head and then hitting a nice DDT followed by a Middle Rope Springboard Leg Drop for a two of his own. Crowbar heads up top again looking for a Diving Crossbody, but D’Lo catches Crowbar and then plants him with spinning side slam. D’Lo is stalking Crowbar as he gets to his feet and then plants him with a big Sky High Spinebuster and gets the 1-2-3.
After the match, Buff Bagwell has run out to ringside and is looking to attack D’Lo, but D’Lo sees him coming. The two men brawl as referees and security pull them apart.
Mero showcases his boxing background early, stinging Stasiak with a series of quick jabs and uses the momentum to hit a big clothesline off the ropes. Stasiak retreats to the outside for a breather with Stacy. Mero goes outside in pursuit but Stasiak hides behind Keibler freezing Mero in his tracks. As Mero moves Stacy out of the way, Stasiak flattens him with a big shot and then tosses him into the ring steps. Stasiak tosses Mero into the ring and delivers a big vertical suplex but only gets a 2-count. Stasiak locks on a hammerlock on the ground, but Mero rallies a comeback with some fan support, battling to his feet and hitting some elbows to the gut of Stasiak. Stasiak is gasping for air and Mero hits the ropes and gets a Sunset Flip for a 2. Stasiak is quick to his feet and levels Mero with a big clothesline to kill the momentum. Stasiak lifts up Mero and plants him with a Hangman’s Neckbreaker and gets the pin.
After the match, Stacy Keibler has entered the ring standing next to Shawn Stasiak with a microphone in her hand. She declares Shawn Stasiak the Mecca of Manhood, and calls herself the “Beacon of Beauty” and that they are the Portraits of Poise and they will remind everyone in WCW and the world, just what that means!
Cheti and Chavo lock up to start the match, and Chetti looks to use his small size advantage, but Chavo out wrestles him early and has him grounded in a body lock. Chetti battles back and gets to his feet and hits a big back elbow followed by big swinging neckbreaker. Chavo kicks out at barely a 2-count. Chetti then signals for something and goes to the outside. He hops to the top rope and goes for a crazy double jump moonsault thing, but Chavo moves out of the way and Chetti crashes and burns! Chavo is quick to capitalize and begins stomping the mid section of Chetti, eventually lifting him up and hitting a big gut buster. Guerrero dominates the closing stretch, hitting a trifecta of rolling suplexes before hoisting Chetti up and planting him with a devastating Gory Bomb for the win.
Chavo is on the mic declaring himself the best cruiserweight and best luchador in history. The mysterious mask flashes on the screen and Chavo gets angry.
After the commercial, Rob Van Dam is in the ring with his WCW United States Championship. RVD has a mic in hand and says he’s not one to come out and here and talk and talk and talk, he lets his performance in that ring do the talking. But, he knows sometimes you have to let people know what’s going on. So Lance Storm, you want another shot at the WCW United States Championship? You got it! Next Week! We cut backstage where we see Lance Storm & Dawn Marie watching the announcement on a monitor as Lance ALMOST smiles.
The bell rings, Kyra charges at Joanie and eats a stiff clothesline. Joanie puts her in position then lifts and plants her with a massive Powerbomb. Foot on the chest, 1-2-3!
Laurer starts motioning to the ramp and yelling for Jazz and Steve Corino to come face her, and here comes Steve Corino. Corino has a mic and hand and says Jazz couldn’t be here, but Corino could. So Corino is going to give Joanie a piece of his mind, because this business is about people like Corino & Jazz who will do whatever it takes to win, not people like Joanie who have been handed every opportunity. He says Jazz is coming for the Women’s championship, in fact, she may come sooner than Joanie realizes. At that moment a thunderous chair shot cracks Laurer in the back. Jazz is in the ring! Joanie crumbles to the mat and Jazz gives her another shot for good measure. Jazz grabs the WCW Women’s title and holds it above her head as the crowd boos. Joanie is stirring already and using the ropes to get up, Jazz quickly drops the title and runs up the ramp to join Corino, laughing, at the top of the stage.
Backstage, Scott Hudson is with Buff Bagwell. Bagwell claims D’Lo Brown is an ungrateful nobody, and that Bagwell brough him into WCW to be his insurance plan, but insurance is a scam. Bagwell dragged D’Lo out of Puerto Rico purgatory and gave him a shot, and what thanks does he get? The same thanks everyone else refuses to give him. NONE! So he'll gladly beat some respect into D'Lo Brown, 1-on-1, at WrestleWar!
The FBI uses quick tags and frantic movement to isolate BG James early, with Guido and Stamboli wearing him down with some double teaming and Palumbo using his size to really keep him at isolated with a big powerslam. BG eventually makes the hot tag to Booker T, who cleans house with a series of clotheslines and a 110th Street Slam on Stamboli. O'Haire enters and showcases his freakish athleticism, hitting a springboard clothesline that levels Palumbo. The match breaks down into a six-man brawl, allowing Team WCW to take full control. Booker T intercepts a charging Stamboli with a crisp Book End, while BG James catches a dazed Guido with a Pumphandle Drop. This leaves Palumbo isolated against O'Haire, who hoists him up and drills him into the mat with the Death Spiral to secure the 3.
Team WCW is celebrating in the ring when Shane gets on the microphone. Shane promised to reveal who would be joining Team WCW in War Games at WrestleWar before the end of the night, so its now or never. But the answer has been obvious and right in front of The Foundation’s eyes all night. Shane McMahon will enter War Games!
